Welcome to the future! USB4 is here supporting 100W power delivery, 40Gbps data & 8K/60Hz video on supporting hardware!
What’s the difference between USB4 and Thunderbolt 4
The short answer is – not a lot. With both Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 (or, USB 4 if you will) utilising the USB Type-C plug, this time around the USB organisation thought to include the Thunderbolt 4 standard as part of the USB4 spec. This means these cables are compatible with most Thunderbolt 4 devices, plus all past Thunderbolt and USB versions, when not using daisy-chaining.
USB4 Video Support
This USB4 cable features DisplayPort Alt Mode 2.0. Yes I know, more tech jargon. Basically, DisplayPort Alt Mode has always been the method of video support since the introduction of USB Type-C. With DisplayPort Alt Mode 2.0, you can now pump resolutions up of 8K/60Hz depending on your hub or display.
