I learnt a lot about Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries while researching for our rechargeable battery range.

Did you know that NiMH development originally began in 1967 and was paid for by Volkswagen and Daimler-Benz? They sponsored development for 20 years and Volkswagen produced a number of electric cars from 1972 onwards. Interestingly, none of these cars actually used NiMH batteries, mainly lead acid was used because it was cheaper. Neither car company was the first to use NiMH batteries in a car either. That honour goes to Honda and their EV plus in 1997.

This four pack of AA sized rechargeable NiMH batteries may not get you far in your Tesla, but they will run all of your regular AA battery powered household items effortlessly. Almost anything that takes regular Alkaline batteries can run with a NiMH battery. Even though its overall voltage is lower, it stores as much, if not more energy than non-rechargeable batteries.
