Apple CarPlay is almost perfect but suffers from one critical flaw…
Now that the clickbait is out of the way, please read on.
Being the Cable Chick you’d think I’d be all-in on cables. Well I can tell you that cables always make sense when they allow you to have a seamless technological experience (like when plugging your PS5 into your 4K TV). You plug it in and get the best possible experience, if it was possible to do this wirelessly it wouldn’t be quite as good an experience.
CarPlay however, isn’t quite the perfect user experience as yet. Unless you have one of the very few cars on the market which has both wireless charging AND wireless CarPlay you’re still stuck using a cable.
Enter our wireless Apple CarPlay Adapter. Simply plug in this compact adapter to the USB data port in your car (the same port you’d use for CarPlay) and instantly convert your car to a wireless CarPlay car. No need for setup, as long as you have your phone with you it will instantly pair with your car the moment you start it up, just without the annoying cable plugging in bits.
If your car also has a wireless charging mat you don’t even need to worry about charging the phone, how nice would that be?
To Wire, or not to Wire? That is the question…
I’ve personally used one of these in my car for the past 3 months and I have to say that I love what it’s brought to my daily commuting life… however that’s not to say connecting wirelessly isn’t without the occasional hicup. As with almost every wireless connection I’ve ever used, a wireless connection is never as rock-solid as a wired one. Just like streaming with my iPad via Apple AirPlay at home, or playing music to my Sonos speaker, things don’t always work flawlessly every time.
My experience with these Wireless CarPlay (and Android Auto) adapters is no different. I make 3-5 trips in my car every day, and I do experience some small connection issues from time to time. However they are usually anything form a <1 sec pause in the audio playback, to the Bluetooth pairing dropping out – in which it usually reconnects automatically in 5-10 seconds time. For me however, the benefits of having this wireless adapter far outweighs the downsides, as I love just hopping in my car and being connected a few moments later with all the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto features, including Voice Control, at my fingertips! Just keep in mind if you are expecting the 100% stability of a cabled connection, then any wireless alternative may not meet your expectations.
